Bahamas, naturally. We are getting married there!

My dress and accessories - 2776

My wonderful friends surprised me with a girls-weekend, which included a trip to some bridal shops. I was drawn to the mermaid-style dresses that were off-white in colour, I liked the flattering yet structured shape that these dresses offered. I am a petite person so I knew a ballgown or drop-waisted dress would not suit me. It was a hard decision, but in the end I decided on a strapless modified A-line tiered dress from BCBG – the dress is simple and elegant and makes me look a little taller than I am. It’s also casual enough to wear on the beach and has a timeless appeal. I have not bought a veil yet but I am thinking an elbow-length double-layer veil will look good with the dress. I’m also thinking of wearing pearl earrings, possibly a bracelet and foregoing a distracting necklace. I want to look back on our wedding day photos and not think I look “dated”.

Rings - 2773

I was very lucky that Dave and I chose my engagement ring together. I had done some browsing online of different ring designs and had a general idea of what I liked and didn’t like. I also liked the idea of getting an antique ring that would be unique so we went to some estate and antique stores. My engagement ring and wedding band came from Cynthia Findley Antiques on King Street West. Cynthia was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about her pieces; she worked within our budget and her selection was amazing. Overall it was a really positive experience. My engagement ring is a “daisy cluster” design with pavé-set diamonds on the band and my wedding band is a half-band of diamonds with a detailed edge – both are set in white gold.
